It’s a photo shoot kinda day, buried in my studio with many pretty textiles and a couple of schnauzers! 🥰 This one was inspired by the full moon.

Did you know: The full moon is a time of peak illumination, symbolizing completeness and clarity. It is a potent period when the moon aligns directly opposite the sun, creating a sense of harmony and balance in the universe. As the moon reaches its fullest potential, its energy intensifies, and so does ours. I love full moons and the influence it has on our tides. 🌕

When getting your creative business lifted, the fun part is creating everything; however there are so many other moving parts. One of which is photo shoots with my mannequin. I really should give her a name since she does work so hard! Today she has selected this 36x36 silk scarf that is peppered with a variety of flowers from my garden. On my first dip in Logwood, the scarf spoke to me as wanting to be a midnight sky and she evolved from there. The beautiful glass meteor that I had the privilege of seeing in person in my hometown, became part of my silk scarf inspiration. ☄️ Do you see it? Pomegranate; what a beautiful color you give.

My spoonflower shop as been very busy, so I thought it was time to add some fresh new pattern designs! My inspiration for this particular one came from all of the seedlings I’ve recently planted for my dye garden! So many projects in the works!

Did you know that Cochineal is an invasive insect found on prickly pear cacti, feeding on the plant moisture and nutrients? The bugs have a high dye content producing a gorgeous range of fuchsias, reds, and purples. The color can be shifted with different mordants. The dye from a cochineal bug is mostly used in food, drugs and cosmetics.

The beautiful color that Madder Root gives is like a warm sunset over the Colorado mountains. Madder Root is known for producing vibrant colors of reds, oranges, pinks and purples. It gives the richest color with patience; resting over night ends up achieving a deep, rich, saturated color. One of my favorite dyes to work with.
